Volunteering
Volunteering at MANE takes a special kind of person. If you are considering becoming a
volunteer, it’s not necessary that you have experience with horses – only that you not
be afraid of them. MANE volunteers must be at least 14 years old and will undergo comprehensive
training to ensure the safety and privacy of all of our students. Our volunteers should also
enjoy working with people who have special needs.
Each miraculous step our students make would not be possible without the hard work and dedication
of our trained volunteers. MANE volunteers do many different things: leading horses during lessons,
walking on either side of horses as students ride, grooming and caring for horses, gardening,
helping with fund-raisers, assisting with administrative duties, and site maintenance. Whether you
can offer us an hour a week of your time, or several hours every day, there are many volunteer
opportunities - even if lessons are not in progress.
