Foster Care Program
Our Horses
At MANE our horses are valued partners in a relationship. In order to participate and work
with individuals that often have profound disabilities, MANE is highly selective when accepting
horses into our program. Many of our horses are donated, volunteered or leased by horse owners
in the community. When selecting a horse to participate in our program, we are looking for a
horse or pony that is ideal and suitable for Equine Assisted Activities and Therapy.
Donating a Horse
Do you have a horse that might be a candidate for MANE? If so, call Kim
or Starla at 213-0909 to discuss placement options. With superior care, lots
of attention, lovely pastures, roomy stalls, and a pristine barn, MANE provides
a wonderful home for special equines, and owners who give horses to the program
get a tax deduction as well!
Important Note! While Minor Health Issues in an Equine May Be Acceptable, Please note
That Our Horses Must Be Sound Enough to Work Regularly.
- MANE will:
- Evaluate a prospective horse’s conformation
- Evaluate health
- Consider age
- Examine gaits and manners of going
- Observe attitude, reliability and adaptability
The breed of a horse is not a critical consideration. Different breeds offer
different builds needed for a wide range of activities, including riding, driving,
vaulting, interaction on the ground and others. By donating a horse you will not only
assist individuals with disabilities, but you will also be eligible for a tax deduction.
